A friend of mine told me that the reason for my lack of success at online dating is because I do not do the pre-screening. I know, I know... When we interview for jobs we always get pre-screened, when we go to a fancy place to eat, we always call ahead to find out if we can get a reservation. I am not sure why I thought that I can go on a date without calling ahead first and checking the person out.Tonight, I decided to change all that and call POF Candidate #2000. The conversation started out well until he spent 33 minutes talking about work. (and through in that he just home with mom and dad) I actually said to him that I felt like I was interviewing him to come and work at my company. (We are in the same line of work) However, that is what we had in common so we left the conversation saying that we enjoyed it and that we will talk again. Maybe it will begin differently with that second call.

your friend, whoever she is ;) sounds like a smart cookie! lol
Wow sounds like the pre-screening is definitely necessary....good luck.
And did she also tell you to engage in an email conversation first?:) You might as well flush out the 3rd grade grammar dates before you even get on the phone! :)
Never trust someone with a posed picture.
lol @ anon and the 3rd grade grammar..so so true...the other way around that is if he texts as if he's on a message board for tweens i.e. every sentence ends or begins with LMAO lol or a smiley face :) hahahaha
pre-screening via email is really the best of both worlds -- you can see what they spend most of their time talking about (themselves, living with their parents, unemployment) AND you can immediately suss out anyone who is unable to spell / write above a 5th grade level!
pre-screening sounds like the way to go, but in addition to phone conversations, I agree that email is also a way to get a glimpse at the person...
